Sea water is undoubtedly a unique element in nature, it is the basis for the survival of the blue planet, and his therapeutic value is recognized by medical hydrology and applied in numerous centers around the world.

Joaquín Farnós, is an introducer in Spain of thalassotherapy, he discovered the value of seawater in the early sixties in the center of Collioure in the south of France where one of the oldest thalassotherapy and functional rehabilitation centers in Europe and one of the most prestigious in the Gallic country. From that experience, Dr. Farnós brought to Spain the sanitary techniques that use seawater therapeutic purposes for functional rehabilitation.

Joaquín Farnós Gauchía has been one of the most outstanding doctors in the field of rehabilitation and functional recovery. His contribution to medicine in Spain has been essential as an introducer of clinical rehabilitation and thalassotherapy, which is the use of seawater for therapeutic purposes. Joaquín Farnós was one of the first specialists in Spain in rheumatology and functional rehabilitation, being a doctor at the Malvarrosa sanatorium, the Clinical Hospital and the first head of service at the General Hospital of Castelló. Internationally, he trained and worked at the Helio Marino Center in Colliure in France, the Lariboisere Hospital in Paris and the Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital rehabilitation center in the United Kingdom.

Helio Marino Thermal Center of Benicàssim.

In 1966 he founded the Benicàssim Helio Marino Thermal Center which, until its closure in 1991, was a pioneer in Spain in rehabilitation and a point of reference for Spanish healthcare in the recovery of different pathologies. Thousands of patients from all over Spain passed through Thermalism, many of them famous such as Ignacio Villalonga, founder of the Bank València, the Count of Argillo, General Franco’s father-in-law, the footballer Javier Clemente, the bullfighter Mario Cabré or the writer Vicent Andrés Estellés .

Palasiet Thalasso Clinic Hotel.

In 1970 he founded Palasiet Thalasso Clinic & Hotel, which over the last fifty years has become one of the most prestigious establishments in world health tourism and has been visited by more than 150,000 guests who have sought, in a unique enclave in front of the Mediterranean, the healing value of sea water. Palasiet is today one of the most valued health centers in Europe. Joaquín Farnós proposed the Palasiet Philosophy, which is the hallmark of the Benicàssim Thalasso Clininc center, where the use of seawater supervised by medical specialists, the combined use of healthy nutrition, physical activity, emotional balance and the most modern techniques medical, have generated a unique model in Europe.
